Background and Objective

Dr. Bill Summerskill, Executive Editor for The Lancet, stated that the biggest challenge in successful publication for Chinese authors is NOT language but research design. For example, statistical errors affect 80% of papers published in Chinese journals.

This workshop aims at addressing the key issues in research design that obstruct successful publication. Both experimental and observational studies will be covered. The speakers will use case-sharing as their core teaching approach.

Program Outline

Morning             

• Designing a good clinical study and an outline of publishable papers
• Mapping-out statistical design and analysis strategies
• Experience sharing on research design for successful publication - How to get my paper published in The Lancet 

Afternoon

• Translational medicine research in genomic eraoConduct systematic review and meta-analysis for clinical research
• A statistical perspective on common pitfalls in research design
• Experience sharing on clinical research – How do I conduct clinical research and publication in resource-limited settings  

 Panel discussion and Q&A will be inserted in multiple sessions to ensure abundant interaction
